Prime Minister Of India: Narendra Modi is scheduled to be sworn in as India’s Prime Minister for a third term on June 8, according to media sources. According to the report, the new government would take oath on the same day.

On June 5, a day after the Lok Sabha election results were released, the Union cabinet chaired by PM Modi suggested that the 17th Lok Sabha, whose term expires on June 16, be dissolved.

According to reports, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Janata Dal-United (JDU), the possible “kingmakers,” have given their approval for the establishment of the NDA government and PM Modi’s swearing-in ceremony on June 8. Both parties are scheduled to offer official letters of support to the BJP during an alliance meeting.

The BJP won 240 seats in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Despite failing to achieve a majority, the NDA has obtained 295 seats through coalitions. The INDIA bloc numbered 231. In contrary to what exit polls projected, the INDIA bloc posed a stiff challenge to the BJP-led NDA.

The party’s score was much lower than its 2019 tally of 303 seats and the 282 seats it gained in 2014. On the other side, the Congress party had significant expansion, obtaining 99 seats compared to 52 in 2019 and 44 in 2014.

Following the counting of ballots in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP fell 32 seats shy of the 272 majority level. For the first time since coming to power in 2014, the BJP did not win a majority on its own.

Today, the NDA will convene a meeting to plan future political action measures. The NDA leaders are set to gather at Prime Minister Modi’s house at 3:30 p.m.

Earlier on June 4, PM Modi praised the people for their mandate and stated that the BJP-led NDA will establish its third straight administration, which is a win for Viksit Bharat, ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’, and people’s strong trust in India’s Constitution.
